How To Be An SEO Master!
November 2nd, 2009
SEO is not rocket science. It is much more difficult than doing something pertaining to science. To become an SEO master takes years of practice and you need to keep on practicing. The reason for that is because search is always changing. The algorithm is always kept a secret to stop people from gaming the engines. No it is definitely not rocket science and if you think of SEO as rocket science, you will most probably lose the SEO game.
It is extremely difficult to be a true expert in this field. The competition is fierce, and one mistake can cost you months of work. If you are working for a client, you had better be certain that you do not get their site thrown into the “sandbox,” meaning that it will never be found. This is like being exiled to the far reaches of the Internet where only the most intrepid explorers will ever find them. It’s not good for business.
For this reason, it is extremely important to choose the right SEO company or employee if you are in business. If you want to become that person (the right SEO company or employee), here is what you need to do:
1. Administer at least five websites for at least a year. Do not link them to each other. Each is its own little petri dish that must not be contaminated. 2. Be scientific about it. Develop theories and test them rigorously. Keep track of results. Note changes in the way the search engines index your site and in the way your visitors find it, and connect those changes to actions that you have taken (link building, keyword weight, social networking, etc.) 3. Learn how to find the right keywords. This is not as simple as finding words that people search for and that are not insanely competitive. In this, you have to be somewhat intuitive. What keyword combination is a potential customer likely to use as opposed to a bored web surfer? 4. Use different tools until you find one that works. I have my favorite, but I’m not allowed to mention it. Follow the link in the resource box and surf around my blog. You’ll figure out what it is. It may not be for you, but you can try it free. 5. Get at least 20 pages to the top for fairly competitive keywords. This is what turns prospects into clients. 6. Be a ninja. Once you figure out how to do it, take a cue from the people who write the search algorithms and keep it to yourself. Also train and improve continuously so that your skills do not slip.
That is how to become an SEO guru who commands top dollar with good reason, the good reason being that you know how to attract the right people, not just the most people. More on that later.

The Road to Becoming an Accountant
September 24th, 2009
The path to becoming an accountant is long, but well worth the effort. You’ll need a 4- year college degree in accounting to enter the field as an accountant, rather than as a bookkeeper who can begin with a two year AA. To go farther and be licensed as a CPA in most states and territories you can apply to sit for the exam after you achieve your bachelor’s. Most people, however, will need further graduate level coursework aimed specifically at preparation for licensed work. You’ll also need to pass the universal CPA exam, and obtain the work experience necessary. By meeting the specific requirements of your state and by following through over the years with mandatory relicensing and continuing education, you can gain a career that is stable, respectable, well paid and secure. There are few professions as clearly and constantly useful as that of the CPA.
The requirements for an accounting position are met by obtaining a four year degree. There are many routes you can take to gain the degree. Local colleges and universities will offer training, as will business colleges and online accounting degree programs. Be sure that you choose an accredited institution, and take time to compare the various offerings. To serve well as an accountant you will need a clear understanding of the common best practices of the profession, the local and federal tax structure, and the varieties of business classifications. You will also want to be trained in a range of standard professional software tools, such as Peachtree and Quicken.
Graduate programs for those planning on taking the CPA exam can also be gained through many sources. Don’t limit yourself to any single answer before doing your research. The demands placed on CPAs are extensive and include many elements of professional skill not often called on by simple accounting positions. A CPA is a specialist, and you want to make certain you are getting the academic training needed to turn you into a specialist. Online sources of programs can be very good: however look into programs in as many places and using as many venues as possible. The “perfect” program for you could be at a University Extension, or through a local business college.
The best place to learn about the universal CPA exam is at the exam website, http://www.cpa-exam.org/. The site provides an overview of the test and its sections, as well as information about qualifying to sit for the exam, frequency of testing permitted, and more. Because of the central importance of passing the test you should take the time to completely familiarize yourself with this site before even signing up for a grad course. By learning the structure, nature, topics and goals of the exam you can better assess the value of programs offered.
Once you have completed your coursework and taken the universal CPA exam you will still have to gain acceptable work experience, if you haven’t already done so. Most states and territories require an active period of employment much as a doctor’s licensing requires a period of internship and residency. Requirements and the specifics of acceptable employment vary from state to state and territory to territory, but can be checked at a number of places, including such sites as http://www.becker.com/accounting/cpaexamreview/state/index.cfm. Make sure your employment experience matches the requirements for your state or territory.
Don’t forget that even after certification you will be required to keep your certificate renewed and you will have to continue with ongoing professional education. CPA license requirements for renewal and continuing education again vary from region to region. But again they can be checked, and they will require some level of formal educational credit. Without attention to these details your license may lapse.
