Webinar Tools For Effective Presentations!
March 10th, 2010
If you would like to host a webinar, there are a few webinar tools you will need to be professional and effective.
Start planning your presentation by creating a webinar set-up sheet. On this sheet, list out the following:
- your webinar OBJECTIVE (sales, a phone appointment, education?)
- your webinar TITLE (this should be benefit driven)
- what you plan to COVER on your webinar
- your STORY (This is “why” you are qualified to host your webinar.)
- CASE STUDIES (results of how you, or the people you have helped, have solved the “problem”)
- EDUCATION (killer tips and tricks they need to know to help overcome the “problem”)
- ROAD BLOCKS to success (These might be setbacks your viewers could face.)
- CALL TO ACTION (This is where you encourage them to act on what you’ve shown them. Go to your website, buy your product or service, or call for an appointment.)
Another webinar tool is a powerpoint template for your webinar ppt. Creating a webinar ppt is easy if you include these items:
-background graphic - Create or have someone else create an appealing, memorable graphic that communicates the message of your webinar. Use it as the background graphic on your master slide.
- your picture - Again on the master slide, insert your picture in the top left corner so that people can identify with you as a person. It also helps the audience to link a face with your voice.
-bullet points that show up when you click your mouse - Go to the “custom animation” option and have each line on your presentation appear when you click your mouse in the master slide.
- call to action url - In the master view, add a url at the top so that the “call to action” is available on each slide. The call to action should lead to a web site where your audience can take an action (buy button, phone number to call, email option form, etc.)
Finally, to set up your webinar, you’ll need these tools:
- webinar hosting - A webinar hosting account lets you present your audio and video to hundreds of people at the same time. A few webinar hosting companies include: GoToWebinar, Manexa, Omnovia, Web Ex and Adobe Connect
- registration web page - You can use the registration page given to you by the webinar hosting company or you can create your own (recommended). Remember to use benefit-driven language to entice them to register for your webinar. “What’s in it for them?”
- autoresponder - You want to remind them of the upcoming webinar (even after they register). And you definitely want to follow up with them AFTER the webinar with your call to action.
So those are the essential webinar tools. Give them careful thought, set them up, and you will likely see HUGE results.

Trimming and Relighting a Cigar
January 29th, 2010
Cigars, much to their credit, can burn a long while. The idea of having a long, relaxing smoke is one of their principal selling points and, where truly high-end cigars are concerned, smokers are often willing to pay quite a premium for that experience! There will come a time, however, when one won’t be able to finish their entire cigar without interruption and many smokers wonder if it’s okay to relight a cigar or if the whole thing is ruined if put out before it’s finished. The good news is that a cigar can be relit, though with some change of flavor.
As tar builds up in the tobacco during the smoking process, the flavor of the cigar inevitably changes. This change in and of itself is not necessarily unpleasant. In fact, some cigar smokers enjoy the flavor of a half to almost completely smoked cigar to a fresh one. The effect can seem more pronounced when a cigar is put out and relit, however.
The tobacco in the center of the cigar will likely have a different appearance than that around the edges. In most cases, it will be a bit darker. This is nothing to worry about and the cigar will smoke fine. The lighting process for relighting a cigar is identical to the first light, involving turning the cigar over the flame. Torch lighters, liquid-fuel lighters or butane lighters will work fine, there is nothing at all that differs in the lighting process.
Before relighting, either knock off the ash at the foot of the cigar or trim the cigar back to where the fresh tobacco and wrapper is exposed. Any cigar smoker should have either a cutting tool or one of the many cigar cutter lighters available on the market. When the cigar is cut back, the tobacco will likely appear somewhat discolored, usually darker, especially around the center of the cigar. This is nothing about which one needs to be concerned.
Good cigars can be expensive and, given that they’re large, many smokers actually prefer to smoke them in stages. Generally, the more times a cigar is relit the harsher it will become so most smokers prefer to limit this to one relight per cigar. With a very good cigar, however, the quality of the smoke may well make multiple relights completely acceptable.
