No one wants to believe that something could happen to their data. Everyone wants to believe that those accidents that wipe hard drives or corrupt data are things that always happen to “other people’s” systems. But the truth of the matter is that an accident or even a malicious attack could happen to anyone at anytime, and a company or individual that is conscientious of this fact will actively seek out all the available data storage options and find the backup or storage solution they need.
Each data storage system on the market has unique benefits and advantages. Different ones work best for different situations. Some are more expensive than others, but any can help store and backup your data.
For personal computers, the most commonly used data storage device is a thumb drive. These are small devices that can be carried around the neck or on a keychain. Some are even big enough to emulate the hard drive of a computer. A user can save important information to the thumb drive and then transfer it to another location without having to take a laptop. These devices are very convenient to use.
Another simple solution is an external hard drive. This option allows a user to back up entire hard drive that can be kept securely off the network. This protects the data from loss by a malicious attack. The idea here is that a company or individual can upload their data to an offsite server that is managed by a company that specializes in this. The other benefit of this solution is that you can get access to your data as long as you have a connection to the internet. It also can save a company a lot of money because they won’t have to hire an IT staff to maintain the integrity of their data.
And finally, another option is network attached data storage solutions. This is an onsite solution that creates a centralized storage area where multiple teams and employees can store, retrieve, and backup information. Choosing this option will most likely require some IT staff within the company, but gives you the ability to really control your data.
Different circumstances will require different data storage solutions. By understanding the options that are available, companies and individuals can both find the hardware and services that will best meet their needs.

There Are Other Ways Of Backing Up Your Data Than Tape Backups

Information and data can be very precious to your business organisation, using a tape backup is not one of the best ways to secure that data. These tapes can be broken very easily, even the slightest bit of greece can damage them and make them all in a usable. You have spent in numerous hours gathering info and data that is critical to your business organisation, imagine losing that information within the blink of an eye.
Using a tape backup is not one of the most secure ways to save your information, there are umpteen more ways accessible now. Tape backup is not always the best way to record your info fully, sometimes they even report it as a blank. If you are currently using a tape backup as your method of backing up your information then its important that you make sure that you have actually been backing it up. It’s essential to make sure your equipment is kept clean as corrupt tapes can cause many problems. You might be in for a nasty shock if you have been doing lots of backups and you find the tape has not been saving your information.
Using a tape backup is not one of the best ways to save data, so I would suggest that you look for some alternatives. There are things that will be much more secure such as external disk drives, flash drives and online backup systems. Some information can be very invaluable to your business, so using tape backup can cost you hours and hours of work if the info is lost.
There is nothing worse than finding that you in reality have not saved all your files and folders, and this is from first-hand experience. And it wasn’t my home PC that this happened with it was my business Mac and it caused me to lose a lot of my time and way to much cash. What makes me so angry is that I did everything that I was suppose to do like making sure everything was kept clean, and even performed the checkups as I was told that I needed to do.
It would be in the best interests of your business organisation to use some sort off backup system like an external hard drive or some type of online backup system. These are much better solutions then using a tape backup.
