Debt Consolidation and Reduction

July 7th, 2009

by Marion Jones

So, now you can see the writing on the wall, you are in up to your neck and your creditors are starting to ring you at home in the evenings as well. You know that you have to do something, but you’re not sure just what. It’s so embarrassing having to talk to that kid from your creditor’s debt collection department, especially over the phone; but you don’t want to take time off work to go down to their offices either! And you can’t wish the problem away. You’ve heard of debt consolidation and reduction and you think that perhaps you need to look into it.

However, before you think about debt consolidation and reduction loans, analyse your debts to work out your total debt. Debt is a source of credit lines given to you by creditors who thought that you would repay the amount borrowed or owed. When creditors become aware that you are behind on your repayments, they will frequently delay a few weeks before reporting you to the collection agencies.

During this time, you might want to contact your creditors and ask for an extension of time, a balance reduction, or even a complete termination of the amount owed. Creditors do expect to get their balance and therefore, they may extend your credit, since they want to avoid the problems that arise when reporting customers for a default on payment.

Creditors do not want to make enemies of their customers, since they hope that the customer will show good faith and pay the debts and continue doing business with them. If you fail to contact your creditors, they will eventually hand your files over to the collection agencies. These agencies often use much more severe tactics to retrieve the money owed.

These agencies will try almost anything to pressurize you so much that you will go all out to find a method to pay up, or else stress you so much that you are willing to seek professional assistance. Debt consolidation and reduction is one of the methods of eliminating debts; a loan may or may not be required.

When you contact your creditors, ask for leniency, so you can work toward debt consolidation and reduction by cutting back on your expenses. If the creditors agree to debt consolidation and reduction by lowering your payments, terminating it, or else providing you with an extension and you don’t take advantage of their generous offer, ie, if you fail to start repaying after the offer is made, then they will not be as friendly the next time you have contact with them.

Ensure that you repay your debts as agreed with your creditors to minimize any further complications. Communication is extremely important, because if you have ceased negotiations with your creditors, they have every justification to go all out to retrieve the debt. This will help you in your debt consolidation and reduction.

Frequent Headaches

July 6th, 2009

by Rose Williams

Many of us live with headaches afflicting us for apparently no reason. Some of these headache types may occur once and then we may go for several years before we get them again. Other sorts of headaches happen pretty often in our lives. These headaches are known as ‘frequent headaches’.

Frequent headaches in general seem to be tension headaches. Other times, frequent headaches are the result of taking too much over-the-counter (OTC) medications. This sort of frequent headache is also called ‘rebound headaches’. While it is safe to take the recommended dosage to treat headaches, rebound headaches occur because the dosage amount has been exceeded.

So, one of the ways to stop the pain that frequent headaches bring is to slowly reduce the amount of method that you are taking. For people who may find this step hard, consulting with their doctor can help find the optimum way to achieve this without making their headaches or other condition worse.

Besides overdosing on headache medication, there are other things that can bring the onset of frequent headaches. These could be too much smoking and too much alcohol. Therefore, reducing your alcohol intake to a more appropriate level can help with reducing the pain of your frequent headaches.

As smoking any type of tobacco will increase your risk of experiencing frequent headaches, it is definitely advisable to stop smoking completely. While it might seem to be easy to control these frequent headache triggers, you may actually need professional help to reduce the occurrence of frequent headaches.

So, when you talk with your GP you should find out about headache clinics and if they have the facilities to assist you with your rebound and/or frequent headaches. People who would like to deal with controlling their headache medicine themselves can start by reducing the dose little by little.

Afterwards, when your body is able to deal with that reduction, you can lower the dose a bit more. If you feel that the headaches are becoming too severe, you have the choice of taking a little cortisone to help deal with the pain of the headaches while your body slowly adjusts to the new regimen.

Because frequent headaches seem to be caused more by the overdose of headache tablets, it could be a good idea for you to take the medication only if you absolutely need to. That way you can control your dose of the medicine that causes you get other headaches in addition to what you first started the pain killers for.

Modest Retirement Gifts For Golfers

July 4th, 2009

by Colin Jones

There is a commonly-held notion that golf is a pastime and sport of big shot entrepreneurs and businessmen. It also has the reputation of being an exclusive, elite sport that is not accessible to regular blue collared employees. However, this is not really the case as modernization and commercialization have brought this so called elite sport into the reach of the common worker.

This is because you don’t need to buy sophisticated equipment to play. Unlike big game fishing or polo which need a lot of resources - a boat or a horse respectively - golfers just require a set of golf clubs, which are reasonably affordable these days. Bearing this in mind, retirement gifts for golfers and aspiring ones are more easily thought of.

Personally made retirement gifts to personalize golfing equipment is quite an easy task as you could easily make it personal by embroidering such items as home made golf club pouches, and caddy covers. These can be knitted that is if you are a knitter or any similar craft which may require different materials.

Another idea is to tap into the fashion aspect of golfing which means to focus on the things worn by a golfer. You may even set a new trend in golfing apparel using a lively imagination and an interesting clothing design for your retiree.

Normal gifts. The most common and usual method of getting a retirement gift for golfers is to go over to the nearest sports shop and get your retiree some of the things sold there. It may sound a little impersonal to just get the retiree a commercially made gift but then this may actually prove very useful if the retiree is still a novice or beginner golfer. Maybe you might want to get him a golf club set as this is the basic requirement to be able to play golf.

Furthermore, you may find some other accessories that your retiree golfer may still need but then perhaps you could also use your imagination on what things can be made to enhance the golfing equipment he may already have.

Commercially made golfing equipment is also a good idea, if you want to make your retiree feel good by giving him a famous set of clubs, making him look like a pro.

Gags and Jokes The fun part of choosing to give a gag gift instead is the humour these items can invest. It also adds to the lighter side of the golf-playing retiree’s party and his friends will be able to take part in with smiles, laughs and jokey comments too.

The joke gift should be bought quite carefully as the gag gift may represent a sensitive matter for the retiree, especially if he is still a newbie player. Joke present in relation to golfing might be taken negatively and discourage or at least hinder their learning and progress as they are disturbed by the idea represented by the joke present given to them.

However, for veteran players who already know the game well, the gift of a good gag gift on their retirement day would be very funny because they would see golfing not only as a way to relieve stress but to actually just have some fun as well.

You should see retirement gifts for golfers as just a simple way to make your golfer friend enjoy life after his career is over.

Protecting Children with Mental Disorders

June 30th, 2009

by Marion Jones

Who are the predators? Predators are Cyber Stalkers, serial killers/rapists, rapists, paedophiles, women beaters, child abusers, thieves et cetera. Predators often have mental problems that keep them from functioning properly in normal society. Children with mental disorders are often the prey of these predators, and sometimes children with mental disorders are the predators themselves. In fact, the distributor of one of the most dangerous viruses online came from an eighteen-year old from England.

Dangers mental disorders: Not everyone with a mental disorder is a danger to society. Generally, predators with mental illnesses are plagued with sociopathic, psychopathic and anti-social disorders, oppositional defiance, conduct control disorders, schizophrenia, borderline personality disorders (BPD), and psychosis. While there are a few other mental illnesses that pose a threat to our society, this is a list of the most common potential dangers that lurk on the streets and on the Internet.

How to save a child with mental disorders from dangers : Never treat your child as if he/she has a mental disorder. Treat your child as special, yet avoid treating the child as if he/she is mentally ill, since many mentally ill patients are extremely intelligent. Teach your child the same rules that other children abide by and stick to the rules. Do not leave room for leniency when danger is present. Teach your child respect by showing respect yourself.

Children with dangerous mental disorders will often want to watch pornography, violent images, content, and so forth. This makes it harder as a parent to defend your child. However, it is important that you enforce the laws. Never put yourself in danger while enforcing these laws, since some children with dangerous problems can be violent.

If the child won’t listen to you, bring in the police and make sure that they do their job to help you enforce the rules. You may have to pay court fees and go through all sorts of rigmarole, but I can promise you that it will be worth it in the end. As a mother who is raising two boys with dangerous mental illnesses, I can tell you it isn’t easy but it can be done.

Children with mental disorders often have brilliant minds that can usually get round any parental controls and will do so without you even knowing. Take more time than normal to monitor your child’s behaviour online. Teach your child that divulging personal information is restricted and encourage them to ask your permission when considering divulging name, phone number or other details online.

Leave room for your child to take some responsibility and always encourage your child to participate in family discussions that involve them. Encourage the child to protect their safety by encouraging them to report any wrong committed against them.

One of the most difficult things you’ll ever have to do while raising a child with mental health problems is teaching him/her to stay away from violent images and pornography. It is almost impossible to keep them away from this rubbish. Still, it can be done, if you set a good example for the child.

It is vital that you keep talking and listening to your child. Allow your child to express concerns, opinions, ideals, theories and so forth without demeaning the child. You will be amazed at the knowledge children with some mental disorders have, if you will only listen to them.

The best advice I can offer you for dealing with children with major mental disorders, such as psychopathy, is to seek help and stand firm. For more child safety tips for children with mental disorders get advice from a qualified counsellor.

Note: Children learn what they see and hear.
