The Simple Way to Understanding Pay Per Click Marketing

July 13th, 2009

by Sean Galusha

In the simplest terms, pay per click marketing is a tool in the internet that can be used to bring more readers and visitors to your website. It is an advertising tool that will help you reach out to potential customers and make your website easier for them to find. Pay per click is also a good means to make money online as more visitors to your site could mean higher rates if you engage in pay per click marketing.

Among the advantages of pay per click as an online advertising tool is that it is cost-effective, but like other advertising tools, there may be some factors that you should keep in mind to avoid failure in this advertising strategy. It is also advisable to study the tricks of the trade to avoid pitfalls and to get ahead with competitors as well.

If you want to promote your business in the internet using the pay per click tool, you will be placing your ads and text links to other websites. Every time an interested individual browsing in that website gets interested in your ad, you will then pay the website owner for that click. Cost involved is dependent on how many clicks your ad receives from unique clicks.

Another way of doing pay per click advertising is through search engines like Google. You can bid along with other advertisers and business owners of an ad spot in the search engine results page and once you win the bidding and you get your ad posted at a strategic place in the search engine results page, you will then pay for every click that is generated by your ad. This rate is the one you presented in the bidding process.

To illustrate, if you bid for the keyword “mobile phones” and you won the bid at $1.00, your ad will be placed at the top of the lists when a user types in “mobile phones” in the search engine. If say, 50 users clicked on your ad, you will then pay $50.00 dollars for the 50 clicks on your ad.

Although this kind of technique is widely used online, it also pays to learn and know how this strategy works for you. Pay per click marketing should not just end in bringing traffic to your site. You should keep in mind that bringing traffic to your site is just the start of reaching your ultimate goal in advertising.

Important SEO Tips

by Harry King

Create Title tags with keywords. For example, if your site is www.joebloggs.com and you sell Computer Parts and Accessories, instead of your title saying “joebloggs”, it should say something like ” Joe Bloggs - Computer Parts and Accessories”

Use your keyword phrase a lot, but not too much. The ratio of your keywords to the rest of the text on your page is called the keyword density. It’s important to repeat your keywords in your document, but not too much. Keyword density should be between 3 and 7% for your primary keyword phrase and 1-2% for any secondary keywords or keyword phrases.

Re-write content using knowledge previously gained about keywords and phrases This doesn’t mean totally re-writing and stuffing the page with keywords, it requires writing paragraphs ensuring the right phrases are in the right places but isn’t obvious that the phrases are written for the search engines. Do not write too much information on each page and do not stray of in to writing about something else.

META Tags. A lot of search engines these days don’t use META tags anymore, but they can still be helpful. Especially the robots.txt file which you will need to create a tag for to let the spider know where on your server it is created. This should be in your server’s root or home directory.

Provide relevant content. Put as many appropriate and relevant contents as you can in order to have a higher chance at ranking better. People who search for products on a website do price comparisons and research first. So therefore you should include features and contents that will attract the searcher. Once the searcher is impressed, he/she will stick to your website and eventually buy your product.

Time your page for its loading speeds. Remember, though a graphic image looks really good on your site, its hateful if your visitors have to wait hours for it to load. You may be using a high speed connection, the whole world doesn’t. Your page has to be quick to load.

Don’t try to spam and never use methods like cloaking, keyword spamming or doorway pages. Many SEO advices to have multiple domain name and link each other but according to SEO professionals search engine can penalize you for this. Instead of that try to add more quality content to your existing website.

Methods That A Website Optimization Firm Uses To Help Optimize Websites For Search Engines. To successfully maintain a number one position on the top search engines requires extensive knowledge of search engine optimization. Luckily for webmasters and business owners there are search engine optimization firms like SEO.com that can work with them to obtain top ranking for websites.

The use of website analytics, local search engine optimization, and social media integration/marketing are all different methods that a website optimization firm will use to optimize websites for searches by potential customers.

A successful search engine optimization firm will utilize several methods to optimize their clients websites. One particular method is using website analytics, which utilizes reports generated by a website in order to determine what keywords are drawing customers and traffic to the website.

Search engine optimization experts use the data gathered by website analytics to determine what keywords are more successful than others at drawing customers and inserting the best keywords into web pages as meta tags or specific keywords. Website analytics also provides information notifying the SEO which search engine was used most often to draw customers to that website, and the search engine optimization specialist will then customize the website, catering the optimization for that specific search engine or group of search engines.

Another method often used by website optimization firms is a comparatively recent development called social media integration or marketing. In the past few years social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace have significantly changed the way many business look at advertising online.

A firm can help webmasters put information about their online business on a social media website for more advertising. More advertising means more customers and more money for the business, which is a great deal for the business.

The third method is local search engine optimization. This refers to optimization efforts that are targeted at one specific geographical region and is often used by manufacturers or retailers that sell products specific to one area. Either they dont have the means to ship outside the area, or the product is only useful within certain boundaries.

Building a marketing strategy from these methods and others is how a website optimization firm will take a companys website to the top of the results pages. After that, its a simple matter of maintenance to keep the site there.
